What I Bought: Sales

Sorry for the lack of post on Friday, I hope the sales lasted you into the weekend! I had some GREAT sales experiences - so we can blame the nonexistent Friday post on that right? Okay good. The items I bought on sale are from stores I posted here, and other stores as well. While I was expecting the sales from the stores I posted about, I did NOT expect to find such great bargains elsewhere. Take a journey with me below on my successes from the weekend. Hope everyone is having a great start to their week!

While this was not on sale, I got this necklace in stores for under $13. Color much prettier in person.

Workday Wednesday: First Outfit Post!

As someone who reads blogs everyday, one of the items I personally enjoy the most is seeing actual outfits on my favorite bloggers. Since I started this blog, I have wanted to post outfit pictures. Here is an outfit that I wore to work with a necklace I posted about here. With the inspiration of workday Wednesday, I wanted to show a realistic outfit that I would (and did) wear to work. I like that it involves staple pieces with a pop of color in the necklace and playful color blocking in the shoes. Hope you enjoy!

Effortless Looks

I don't know if it was the Aruba weather, or the warm weather tease we had in NYC on Saturday, but I can't stop thinking about looks for this spring/summer. As you know from my previous post found here, I love a good maxi. The look below screams effortless style in so many ways with the perfect combination of trendiness and comfort.  Effortless Look

What items are you looking to purchase for the upcoming warmer weather?

Weekend Style

This weekend I kept it casual and rocked some new purchases I have been dying to wear, but haven't yet had the opportunity for. For me, I like to make purchases of items I would wear both at work and outside of work to get a better return on my investment. This weekend I wore some work appropriate statement necklaces, some gingham, and my new favorite coat from Zara (not as work appropriate, but I will be wearing this as often as I can). Here is an instagram snapshot of a weekend outfit. What are you wearing on the weekends?

Top: J.Crew (similar here)
Jacket: Zara (recently purchased in stores, similar item - minus gold zipper detail - here)
Necklace: J.Crew (borrowed c/o Alyssa Zolna)
Items not shown - Pants: J Brand
Shoes: Tory Burch Reva Flats

To my readers, would you be interested in more outfit posts? If so, let me know.

Inspiration: Tangerine and Chains

There are some things that I am currently stalking and obsessing over on-line and in stores right now. After the Shopbop 20% off sale, and a few other purchases in between, I need to take some time and think about my next "investment". Enter Pinterest. The other night while on Pinterest, I stumbled upon this photo and inspiration found here. I love everything about this picture from the color of the top, the jewelery and the flowing waves. The bracelet and watch she is wearing were actually just featured in my post found here. Below you can find the rest of the exact items from the picture, as well as a few complimentary pieces that I was inspired by. Enjoy!

HI low

The hi-low skirt trend appeared this season with a bang, and I'm kind of liking it, a lot. It is a great way to show off some leg while still maintaining that conservative vibe. The trend looks good in both skirts and dresses. If you are trying this out for the first time, and not sure if you can pull it off, some of the items below are under ten dollars! Check it out.

Adriano Goldschmied

LC Lauren Conrad

These skirts can be found at Target for under ten dollars! Loving both options. Click here to purchase.

Have you purchased any hi-low skirts/dresses this season?

Workday Wednesday: Office Jewelry

Work outfits can be boring. Even if you have that fun blouse or two, they get old, especially when its your uniform 5 days a week. The one thing that you can rely on the spice up an outfit is good jewelry. Now, each office environment is different. Some offices you can get away with wearing the boldest statement necklace, while in other offices a single stranded pearl necklace is the only thing acceptable. There can, however, be a happy medium. Below I have selected some options I think really go in any office place if you wear them the right way. They make it known that you have a sense of style, while still maintaining your professionalism.

BaubleBar Coco Pearl Strands

J.Crew
Loving this right now.Timeless.

Take it to the Max

You can't beat a good maxi. Whether it be a maxi skirt or maxi dress, both bring that wow effect. There were so many times when I almost bought a maxi dress last year, but I just didn't know how I could pull it off. When I say pull it off, I don't only mean the way it looked, but the right occassion to wear it on. Recenlty while I was shopping at J.Crew (shocker), I saw this beautiful stripped maxi dress. I feel in love, not only with the pattern and the gold button detail, but the price (under $100). I wore it on the plane recently and it was like wearing sweatpants (kinda). It is the ultimate comfortable piece that really puts a statement with minimal effort. Maxi dresses and skirts are in this season. See below the options I am loving most right now.

J.Crew
This was my recent purchase and plane outfit. Flattering, comfortable and afordable.

Victoria Secret
This is a great option that is similiar to the one Blair wore in this post found here (skirt also comes in purple).

Right now Shopbop has 20% for friends and family with the code: IntheFamily20. You can use this to purchase some of the items above.

Do you own any maxi items, if so what?

Gingham

Happy Monday to everyone! Unfortunately, I return back to the real world from Aruba today, but luckily I get to spend a few hours in the sun before I do so. To kick off the week, I thought I would post about a certain pattern that I love and that I have recently made a purchase in - gingham. Now, I am going to be completely honest with you, I did not know what this pattern was called until recently. I bought an orange and white gingham button up last season from J.Crew but called it an award "checkered plaid?". So to those that were unfamiliar this was called gingham, do not be ashamed. You can wear this pattern not only as a button up, but as a dress as well. See below the options I am lusting over right now! Hope you enjoy.

Menswear: Barbour

To the boys that read my blog, thank you. You are mainly my friends and are doing it to support me, and for that, I truly appreciate it. So, I promised some of the guys reading this that I would start doing menswear pieces. Note that I am not as well versed in menswear as I am in women's wear. I stalk clothes for myself on a daily basis, where I just see guys looking good on the street and take note. Moving forward, I decided my first topic for guys to be jackets, in particular, Barbour jackets. Barbour makes outerwear for both girls and guys, however there is something about it on a guy. Its preppy, while still being manly. Although the jackets are not cheap, they will last a life time. They will also get you a few good looks from girls on the streets. Can't hurt right?

You can buy Barbour jackets here.

What do you think of Barbour jackets on guys? If you have any menswear you would like me to post about let me know!

What I Bought: Old Navy

Now, before you say anything, I know. Old Navy. I sometimes even get embarrassed to look on-line. After their latest chambray top that I feel in love with, I gave them a second chance. Enter the items below. I found these on-line recently and could not be happier with my purchase. I decided to wear my first purchase yesterday, a Milly inspired sailboat top. After work, I was walking home, looking on instagram, when who do I see wearing the same top as me? Blair of Atlantic Pacific. If you read my blog you will know, she's one of my fashion icons. All of the items below I purchased for slightly over thirty dollars. You really can't beat that! Check it out for yourself.

Workday Wednesday: Glasses

Yep I said it, glasses, and as a trend - shocking. Lately I have been putting off the fact that I actually need glasses. Starring at a computer screen for two years straight will do that to you. My friend mentioned a brand called Warby Parker that allows you to try on 5 sets of glasses at home, then return them. She was ordering 3 pairs for herself, and kindly asked what I would want to try on as my 2. I tried on a pair and rocked them around for a day, and finally got my mind set that it was okay at 24 years old to wear glasses. I therefore got the guts to go to an eye doctor to get checked out, and what do you know, I actually needed glasses. So we can thank my friend, and Warby Parker, for finally allowing me to admit to myself that, that little blurry feeling I was finding, was a reality. Below you will find the glasses I actually loved, but there are many other options. Best part, they are only $95. I would encourage you to explore and if you have never had your eyes checked, you really should!

Polka Dots!

As you can see from my recent post on stripes found here, I am in love with patterns this season. Polka dots in particular. I love polka dots for tops, bottoms, dresses, you name it. Just don't get too carried away with a matching polka dot on polka dot outfit. Below you will find some of the options that I can't wait to purchase, and some I already have. Oh and also, don't be afraid to match polka dots with stripes, if you so dare. Enjoy!
